Podcast Outline Generator

A structured episode outline you can record from without sounding scripted.

A good podcast outline is a guide, not a script. This workflow generates episode outlines with clear structure, natural transitions, and good questions — so you can focus on being present in the conversation rather than remembering your plan.

The Workflow

1

Define the episode

Start with the episode's core value proposition: what will a listener walk away knowing or feeling that they didn't before?

2

Generate the episode outline

Build a complete episode structure with intro, segments, and outro.

PromptPodcast Episode Outline

Create an episode outline for my podcast. Podcast name: [PODCAST_NAME] Show format: [SHOW_FORMAT] (solo / interview / co-hosted / narrative) Target episode length: [EPISODE_LENGTH] minutes Episode topic: [EPISODE_TOPIC] Core question the episode answers: [CORE_QUESTION] Guest (if applicable): [GUEST_NAME] and their background: [GUEST_BACKGROUND] Audience: [PODCAST_AUDIENCE] Generate: 1. A hook for the intro (the opening 30 seconds — what makes someone keep listening) 2. Episode structure with 3-5 segments, each with: - Segment title and purpose - Key talking points or questions (not a script — bullet points) - Natural transition to the next segment 3. The one story, example, or data point that should definitely be in this episode 4. Three questions for the guest that go beyond what they usually get asked 5. An outro that gives listeners a clear action to take Keep it as a guide I can glance at, not a teleprompter.

Replace: [PODCAST_NAME], [SHOW_FORMAT], [EPISODE_LENGTH], [EPISODE_TOPIC], [CORE_QUESTION], [GUEST_NAME], [GUEST_BACKGROUND], [PODCAST_AUDIENCE]

3

Write the episode description

After recording, generate show notes and a description that will drive listens.

Episode title (finalized, SEO-considered, under 60 characters) 2. Show description (2-3 paragraphs, first sentence is a hook) 3. Show notes with timestamps (use placeholder timestamps: [00:00], [XX:XX]) 4. Three social media captions for different platforms

All Prompts for This Workflow

What you'll walk away with

A complete episode outline with an opening hook, segmented structure with talking points, the most important story to include, three fresh interview questions, and a listener action for the outro.

Pro tips
  • Print the outline and make notes on it during the conversation. A printed outline is better than a screen because you can see the whole thing at once.
  • The best question is often the one that follows up on something the guest said, not one you planned in advance. Use the outline as a fallback, not a railroad track.
